AAVMC launched the Leadership Academy in 2012 to provide leadership development for emerging leaders in academia and to provide a forum for building lasting ties between faculty members at veterinary schools and departments around the world. While there are many types of leadership development training available, the AAVMC Leadership Academy is unique in that it is focused on helping develop tomorrow’s leaders of academic veterinary medicine. The participants quickly bond with one another and will find that they have colleagues and friends they can communicate with as they progress through their careers.
The AAVMC’s annual conference is considered one of the leading professional development events in international academic veterinary medicine. Hundreds of educators and other leaders from the veterinary medical profession gather every year for a three day-symposium that features respected thought-leaders from around the world, explores issues and opportunities, shares best practices, and focuses on diversity, equity and inclusion. The conference also features the AAVMC’s annual Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill.
This course uses an experiential process to teach the components of a successful Land Acknowledgement Statement and helps learners write a statement for their own organization.
The Dean’s Leadership Conference provides an opportunity for deans to consider and address the issues, opportunities and challenges shaping the future of academic veterinary medicine in a focused, executive environment. The meeting includes an Industry Leadership Panel, which provides an opportunity for corporate executives and academic leaders to exchange perspectives and ideas.
Registration is available by invitation only.
